#5 “Liberty enlightening the world”🗽🇺🇸

For those who love history:

The copper statue, a gift from France 🇫🇷 to the people of US🇺🇸 in 1886. She holds a torch and tablet upon which is inscribed the date of American declaration of independence. (July 4,1776).

The seven stripes on the crown represent the seven oceans and the seven continents of the world, indicating the universal concept of liberty.
The statue celebrated it’s 132nd birthday in October 2017.
The torch is a symbol of enlightenment. The Statue of Liberty’s torch lights the way to freedom showing us the path to Liberty. “When the statue was originally assembled, it was a dull brown color, reflecting the natural color of its copper plates. Over the next 30 years, though, it slowly turned to the green color you see today”.
